Panathlon and Polybat Working together
Posted: Tuesday 29th May 2012
Category:"Panathlon hosted the Polybat course with Linden Lodge School today. Doug Williamson, the inventor of Polybat, tutored and took the 10 delegates through the history of the game, adaptions to the rules for equality of play, various different types of equipment and an improvisation session to develop 16 different versions of the game for coaching.. Most importantly, we all played the game and enjoyed ourselves! I am interested to speak to teachers in the coming months to gauge interest in Polybat Doubles for future Panathlon Challenges." Young Leader from Mill Hill School reflects on Panathlon
Posted: Wednesday 16th May 2012
Category:Hi my name is Isabella and on 16th May our school,Mill Hill, helped to run the Panathlon Challenge at Stoke Mandeville. We have been trained twice in the last few weeks as a group by the Panathlon team in all the sports and today we put those skills in to practice. The best part of the day was seeing the children compete despite their disabilities and having such a great day.

Kent Young Leaders
Posted: Thursday 3rd May 2012
Category:Today's Panathlon involved the Sittingbourne Community College final year sixth form students as our Panathlon Officials. The group of 12 leaders were involved in leading all the sports throughout the competition.
This was the first time (to my knowledge!) our Panathlon Leaders involvement also doubled-up as 'course work' for the students BTEC in Sports - contributing towards their required 10 hours of volunteering with children with disabilities in sport. This is one area we hope to develop in the future, really adding value to the leaders we are working with.

Alannah Martin - Young Leader in Malling Views on Panathlon
Posted: Tuesday 1st May 2012
Category:" It was just as fun learning about the different sports involved in the Panathlon as it was to officiate and watch the children taking part. The children taking part loved playing all the different sports, and it was good to see them all working as a team. The Panathlon gives children with different abilities the chance to join in with sport, and enjoy it. It was was really rewarding to watch the children as they received their medals as everyone who attended got at least one medal, making everyone feel like winners. I have enjoyed all of the day, and would love to help out again as it was fun, and all of the children were very kind and respectful! "
