Anne Wafula Strike, GB Paralympian and 2012 hopeful visited Panathlon today at Braintree College in Essex to witness the North Semi Final. 100 disabled young people competed in 6 sports and this is what she had to say -

" It is a privilege to be here today and see all these fantastic sports and all the children having a great day. Its great to see young people of different abilities competing and enjoying themselves so much. Panathlon provides an opportunity to enjoy sport and to meet new friends and have new experiences. Sport is for everybody - and its great to see young disabled people so fired up and raring to compete.I strongly believe sport is a universal language- that we can all speak, given the opportunity. Thank you Panathlon for providing us all with this opportunity."

Panathlon trained 7 staff from London Stansted airport last week as Panathlon Officials who today are officiating today at Chelmsford for the South Semi Final involving 75 disabled young people in 6 sports. This is what they had to say -

" We are members of staff from London Stansted Airport who were trained last week but nothing prepared us for everything we have learned from the competitors today. It has been great working with the young competitors ! Today has been fast moving, but fun filled and much laughter and cheering. They have all competed with much enthusiasm and we have all had great fun. The real stars of the show are the children who are amazing and competing in sport despite the difficulties they face... well done to them all."

Panathlon were in Thanet Kent today for the first time in 2012 to start the events leading up to the School Games final in June.

We trained 23 of the Ursuline College Sports Leaders, who will become our Panathlon Officials for the first round competition in East Kent. This is the one of the first major sports events these leaders will be involved in, through their leadership program. I am looking forward to seeing them in action in 2 weeks time, for the competition also being held at their school.
